Porcelain tile information
Porcelain tiles are produced by a different method from normal ceramic tiles.Instead of the glaze being applied to a ceramic base tile the glaze is blended with the clay that forms the tile.This porcelain clay "body" is then pressed at extreme pressure to form the tile in a highly sophisticated hydraulic press.

The Porcelain tiles are then fired at very high temperatures exceeding 1200 degrees Centigrade resulting in an extremely hard, dense, homogenous tile.Polished Porcelain tiles are then polished to a very high finish using exactly the same equipment as is used to polish Granite and Marble.

Why consider Porcelain tiles.

They have certain advantages over natural materials.They are virtually non absorbent and are extremely hard and durable.They fill a gap in that they complement perfectly the minimal requirements of contemporary design and the polished collection represents fabulous value for such a hard wearing surface.Large sizes are now available ranging from 600mm to 800mm square.

As with all ceramic tiles shade variation will occur with different production batches of Porcelain tiles.It is important to ensure that sufficient tiles are ordered to complete the project.We are happy to send samples of current batches
